Boiled Water Rice

My mum suggested that I put rice in the plastic bowl and pour boiled water inside the bowl and leave to cook overnight:


I left the rice over night and by morning it was still not ready but grown in size:


I tried eating the rice. It was a bit hard.


Before tried cooking rice with boiled water in ceramic plate and the water cooled down even faster than plastic bowl because ceramic materials conduct heat better than plastic.


The rice did not boil because the water cooled down too quickly. Probably I should try this method in warmer climates or during summer day, not during winter night. There is also an option of emptying the cooled water and pouring new boiled water a few times until the rice is finally cooked.
